Since qualifying from the Bath School of Physiotherapy Jane Thomson moved to Cheltenham and worked for 22 years in the NHS as a musculoskeletal physio covering the whole body.

For the last five years Jane has worked in the Private Sector treating all conditions, in particular post-operative knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hand and spine patients. These include Hip replacement, Knee replacement, Shoulder replacement patients on a regular basis. Spinal conditions include mechanical low back pain, spinal disc decompressions, spinal fusion surgery and neck pain. Soft tissue conditions treated include for example ACL (cruciate ligament) repairs, Meniscal repairs to the knee and Collateral ligament injuries. Upper limb conditions include rotator cuff repairs and decompression, biceps tendon repairs, cubital tunnel and tennis elbow tendinopathies and decompressions. Foot and ankle conditions include Ankle sprains, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, ankle fusions and replacements.

In addition to treating specific post operative problems, Jane treats all other musculoskeletal problems from minor strains and sprains, long standing arthritic conditions including rheumatoid arthritis to acute sports injuries.

Jane is a specialist hand therapist with 15 years of experience in hand therapy including making bespoke splints, and in particular treats thumb arthritis, ligament injuries, fractures to the hand and wrist, de Quervains, tendon injuries and post op Dupuytren’s fasciectomy surgery

In her spare time, Jane enjoys cycling, swimming, reading, gardening and travel.
