You can also call reception on 01386 298058 Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm and Saturday 9am – 1pm.
When you book, you will create an online account allowing you to book, cancel and rearrange appointments easily 24/7. You are also able to access your notes, letters and billing history in your account too.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No — you can book directly without a GP referral.
Many clients come to us independently, although referrals from GPs, consultants, and other healthcare professionals are always welcome.
If you have any clinic letters, scan reports, or relevant medical information, please bring them with you or email them to info@pro-activephysio.net before your appointment. Written scan reports are especially helpful; we do not require scan images.
Do you write to my GP?
If you GP or consultant has referred you, we will always write to them with our findings. Otherwise, we do not routinely write to them unless we need to discuss specific issues with them, or request further investigations like blood tests or onwards referrals. If you would like us to write to your GP at any stage, we are more than happy to do so.
Can I used my medical insurance?
We are registered with most major insurance companies. When you book through medical insurance be sure to select the specific insurance appointment type rather than the self-pay option as this is part of our administration process. You will then be emailed a form at the time of booking where you need to add your membership number and authorisation number which you must obtain prior to treatment.
Alternatively, you can self pay for treatment and then we can provide all invoices and paperwork to claim the fee back if that’s how your policy works.
What do I wear?
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement and access to the area being assessed. If the problem is a lower limb issue, you might wish to bring shorts. If the problem is upper limb, you might want to wear a vest top.
What can I expect in my first appointment?
Your first appointment includes a detailed assessment and usually treatment on the same day unless there are multiple issues that require the full 45 minutes to discuss.
Your physiotherapist will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle before carrying out a physical assessment. You will then be given a clear explanation of your diagnosis, along with treatment recommendations and a rehabilitation plan tailored to you.
Most first appointments include hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercises, and advice on managing your condition. If additional treatments such as shockwave therapy or injection therapy may help, these will be discussed with you.
Please bring any relevant letters or scan reports with you to your appointment.
How long is the appointment?
An initial physiotherapy appointment is 45 minutes
A follow up physiotherapy appointment is 30 minutes
Injection therapy is normally 45 minutes
A headache and migraine clinic appointment is 1 hour
